Lasting Results![]() What is Urinary Incontinence?Urinary incontinence is the loss of bladder control that is common and can occur at any age. It is not a normal part of aging or an inevitabe consequence of childbirth or menopause. Surprisingly, 1 in 3 women over the age of 45 and 1 in 2 women over the age of 65 experience incontinence. Most suffer silently in fear of embarrassment over wetness or odor. Fortunately, there are treatment options available for you beyond medication and surgery. What Causes Incontinence?The pelvic floor muscles are the supportive structure for the bladder, bowel and reproductive organs. Weakness of these muscles occurs during pregnancy, menopause and with aging. Surgery and neurological conditions can cause weakness as well. A sudden increase in abdominal pressure from coughing, sneezing, laughing or running can cause unexpected loss of small amounts of urine.
