What is Urinary Incontinence?

Urinary incontinence is the loss of bladder control that is common and can occur at any age. It is not a normal part of aging or an inevitabe consequence of childbirth or menopause.

Surprisingly, 1 in 3 women over the age of 45 and 1 in 2 women over the age of 65 experience incontinence. Most suffer silently in fear of embarrassment over wetness or odor.

Fortunately, there are treatment options available for you beyond medication and surgery.

Through this program between 80-90% of women have been able to avoid the use of medication or surgical intervention.

What Causes Incontinence?

The pelvic floor muscles are the supportive structure for the bladder, bowel and reproductive organs. Weakness of these muscles occurs during pregnancy, menopause and with aging. Surgery and neurological conditions can cause weakness as well.

A sudden increase in abdominal pressure from coughing, sneezing, laughing or running can cause unexpected loss of small amounts of urine. An imbalance in the pelvic floor can result in an overactive bladder with urgency, frequency and loss of large amounts of urine.

What Can Be Done to Correct Incontinence?

Conservative treatment approaches are available and include:
